Hi, my name is Maura van der Linden and I’m an amateur but rather obsessed genealogist.
I’ve always been interested in history and the people who lived it and lived through it. My grandmother had often talked to me about our family roots and told me grand tales of our ancestors. In the last several years, I became really fascinated with the possibilities of doing more research on both my own family and my husband’s. As if my own family history wasn’t interesting enough, I married a man with Dutch and Swedish ancestors! I’ve rapidly discovered that I have no talent for languages…. But it’s a challenge and I enjoy it a lot.
I’m a complete data junkie and must have been an archivist in a past life – how else can you explain my ongoing projects of painstakingly scanning and preserving family albums back into the 19th century or digging into Dutch genealogy? I’m either an archivist or a masochist – I pick archivist.
I plan to use this blog as an outlet for my genealogy research, leads, etc as well as some reviews and tips I pick up along the way. Who knows if anyone else will find it interesting but I can always try to get the family to read it. Hey – it beats talking to the wall or the cats, right?
I’ve added the contact form below, just in case you want to get in touch.
